MEET THE SCOOP TEAM

Clementine Macmillan-Scott, Editor-in-Chief

Clementine grew up in New York reading and playing baseball. She has worked as a festival coordinator and an entrepreneur and had the idea for Scoop two years ago when reading a newspaper for children from 1932. She has founded Scoop with the goal that as many children as possible can find their way into stories.

Shannon O’Reilly-Fearn, Publisher

Shannon is a renowned commercial consultant with extensive sales and marketing strategic experience, spanning 15+ years in the UK, USA and Australia. Having young children of her own, Shannon’s passion for the world of story-telling spans generations of literary lovers including her parents both being journalists. Her passion lies in working with multi-national children’s publishers to provide 360 degree solutions for expansion, acquisition and driving overall business growth.

Jessica Sprankle, Digital Media Manager

Jessica completed her degree in graphic design with concentration in commercial graphics and has been doing digital marketing for over 10 years. She enjoys spending time with her two children by bonding over the written story. She is very passionate about the importance of children enjoying reading. This has contributed to her love for spreading the joys of Scoop with children around the world. 

Lauren Veevers, Events Associate/Editorial Assistant 

Born and raised in London, Lauren has a great passion for storytelling and enjoys nothing more than sharing this whilst running Scoop workshops and exploring the great variety of ways stories can be told with young audiences up and down the country. When she isn’t doing this, she can be found working on her own illustration and animation work that too, holds storytelling at its heart.

Kaya Petrova, Customer Service & Subscriptions Manager

Kaya completed her Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies with outstanding results and having received a full scholarship, moved to Greece in 2013 to pursue a Master’s degree in International Marketing and Communications. After almost 7 years of heading the Marketing departments of some of the biggest Greek companies operating worldwide, Kaya decided to move back to London, closer to her family. In her spare time she enjoys walks with her dogs Socks and Tiny and reading romantic novels, and working at Scoop she believes will allow her to be part of an extremely talented and inspirational team, focusing on providing kids with fun and intriguing stories!

Sarah Odedina, Editor

Sarah is a publisher specialising in books for young readers. She has worked with many of the world’s leading authors, including J. K. Rowling, Neil Gaiman, Louis Sachar and Celia Rees. She has long loved reading and working on Scoop allows her to share the joy of stories with a whole new audience.

Jenny Jacoby, Sub-Editor

Jenny has worked in children’s publishing since leaving university, where she studied Human Sciences. Reading all day for a job is an enormous privilege and great fun too. She has two young children and loves sharing stories with them.

Chantal Newell, Creative Director

Chantal is an experienced Creative Director who is passionate about publishing. She has led teams in developing new magazines from concept to print, including Horrible Histories, Lord of the Rings and The Lion King, and has worked on collaborations with Disney, New Line, Marvel and Scholastic. She loves the whole creative process that brings the pages of a magazine to life through the power of the written word and beautiful visuals. 

Isabel Mahony, CFO

Isabel has always been an avid book worm, and was school librarian at each of her schools, even founding a school magazine in her last year at primary school. After graduating from New College, Oxford she fulfilled the ambition she found from reading the newspapers at 11 and became a bond trader. After 15 years in banking, including as a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, and being Head of Fixed Income Sales & Trading at SMBC for Europe and Asia, she decided to concentrate on Scoop full time, to ensure that it can help inspire children around the world to push boundaries and improve their prospects. She is a mother of 2 girls, and spends any spare time gardening.
